February Freezies

Posted on

Welcome to the second month of the year and we have been having some notoriously cold weather.

Please ensure that you are sending children to school prepared for all kinds of weather conditions. Our time in school is limited this month with the break from February 17-21 so we want to make the most of it! Be sure to check out the school calendar for activities and events.

We also want to send a special shout out to all our RJ Families for making our community service efforts in January such a huge success.

Our “Get into G.E.A.R. Food Drive” was an overwhelming success thanks to our amazing families. The Airdrie Food Bank collected all the donated items on February 6. RJ Hawkey students collected over 2000 Items!!!

This year for the grade two community service project, our students came up with the idea to donate and sell their old books and toys in order to raise money for a local charity. Upon further discussion we decided the Airdrie Food Bank was a great fit because it affects and benefits people of all ages. Students from 1/2W, 2A, 2S and 2/3B graciously donated toys and books for the sale from January 28 to 30. The toy and book sale was held at the school and students from all over the school came to purchase and support the Airdrie Food Bank. Together, we raised $507!!!

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
