The Role of the CDA
Child Development Advisors support students to promote social and emotional well-being and wellness. The Child Development Advisor (CDA) works as a school team member to help provide guidance, and support students and their families. This involves collaborating with teachers and administration to assess the needs of their school and student body. The CDA also works closely as a liaison with Program Specialists, Psychologists, Family School Liaison Workers, Child and Family Services, RCMP and other professionals.
Ongoing Supports offered by our Child Development Advisors at R.J Hawkey:
The CDA may refer students and/ or families to other individuals or agencies. Students can drop by and talk to the CDA any time if they are facing a challenge. Teaching staff or admin may refer students to the CDA along with Parents. Parents can contact one of our Child Development Advisors by calling the school or emailing using the contact information below. The CDA offers students a place to talk and discuss in confidence. As well, guidance can be given with organizational skills, stress management and friendship skills.
