The Role of the CDA

The Child Development Advisor (CDA) works as a member of the school team to help provide guidance and support to students and their families. This involves collaborating with teachers and administration to assess the individual needs of their school and student body.  The CDA also functions in collaboration and is a liaison with Program Specialists, Psychologists, Family School Liaison Workers, Child and Family Services, RCMP and other professionals.

As the CDA, my role is to help our students individually or in groups with many different issues which can range from behavioural challenges, friendship issues, self-esteem building and study skills. We work on social skills such as conflict resolution, anger management and friendship building. I like to describe myself to students as, “the person who tries to make sure that all the boys and girls are happy at school. Most of my referrals are from the classroom teachers, parents and the students themselves.

If you have any questions about my role, please feel free to call (403-948-3939) or email ( me anytime.
