The Role of the CDA

The Child Development Advisor (CDA) works as a member of the school team to help provide guidance and support to students and their families. This involves collaborating with teachers and administration to assess the individual needs of their school and student body.  The CDA also functions in collaboration and is a liaison with Program Specialists, Psychologists, Family School Liaison Workers, Child and Family Services, RCMP and other professionals.

As a CDA, our role is to help our students individually or in groups with many different issues which can range from behavioural challenges, friendship issues, self-esteem building and study skills. We work on social skills such as conflict resolution, anger management and friendship building. Most referrals are from the classroom teachers, parents and the students themselves.

If you have any questions about the CDA role, please feel free to call (403-948-3939) or email either of our CDAs - Laurie Allen  (lallen@rockyview.ab.ca) or Helen Lawson (hlawson@rockyview.ab.ca) anytime.
