If you are picking up your child during school hours, please sign student out at the office.
We believe regular attendance is important for students so they receive information presented in class and develop the good habits of commitment and dedication. We ask that parents ensure the children are in school and arrive in a timely manner. Even arriving a few minutes late can mean missed information for a child. While we understand that families have different work schedules which allow access to different travel opportunities, we again ask parents to minimize the time spent away from school. We ask that when scheduling such trips, parents consult with their child’s teacher to minimize any scheduling/testing conflicts (ie, Provincial Achievement Tests, etc.)
School policy is to monitor student attendance during the year. When a child is late or absent from school for more than 10% of the time period considered, the office will be in touch with those families to determine if there are any problems and if any help can be offered.
Our school also has an attendance check procedure. If your child is absent, please phone the Absentee Line at 403-948-3941. If your child is away for the morning or full day, please contact us prior to the morning bell. For an afternoon absence, please call prior to the beginning of the afternoon classes. If we have not been notified of your child’s absence, a staff member will attempt to contact parents/guardians or the designated emergency contact. Please be sure to notify the office of any changes to your child’s contact information.
Your cooperation with this procedure saves us a great deal of time and concern and helps to ensure the safety and well-being of your child. Thank you for understanding the importance of your attendance line phone call.
