2017/2018 Registration Process & Form

If you are registering a new student (or have friends/neighbors needing to register for next year, please find forms on the Rocky View Schools website.

Kindergarten Registration: Good news; you can turn off the alarm clock!  There is no need to line up in the dark to register your child for Kindergarten.  No longer operating on a first-come-first served basis, all Rocky View Schools are moving to the following, consistent format for Kindergarten registrations.

Children are eligible to attend Kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year if they are 5 years old before February 28th, 2018.  Kindergarten “Advanced Registration” will run the week of Monday, January 16 to Friday, January 20. Registration forms, along with:  proof of residence, a copy of their birth certificate and the $25 registration fee (cash or cheque made out to R.J. Hawkey School or proof of online payment) may be dropped off at the school during regular office hours.  We can make copies for you at the office but having everything ready to go sure speeds up the process!  Registration forms are available at the school as well as online at: https://www.rockyview.ab.ca/staff/forms/StudentRegistration/student-registration-form-2017-18-v1

Parents registering children will be asked to specify their preference of AM or PM class placement (or that they’re flexible) on the form.   Everyone with completed registrations submitted during this advanced registration week will be given equal consideration for morning or afternoon placement.  In the event requests exceed availability, Administration will conduct a draw and a waiting list will be created.

As per communication in the RVS “Ontrack 2017” publication (http://bit.ly/2gEwNfk ) families will be notified of class placement on or before April 7. We will make every effort to support and accommodate the AM or PM preference of families and anticipate this procedure running smoothly.  We are pleased to know all Rocky View elementary schools are adopting this same process.

Kindergarten students and parents will be invited to an information session where there’ll be an opportunity to visit the school, meet teachers, and participate in interactive workshops designed to support learning and better prepare Kindergarten students for the upcoming school year.
