WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN!

I am VERY excited to be your child’s kindergarten teacher!  It’s going to be a busy year, filled with a variety of fun, challenging, and meaningful learning opportunities.

MEET YOUR TEACHER

I graduated from the University of Calgary in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, where I focused on child development.  I then completed the Master of Teaching program at the U of C in 2003.  I began working for Rocky View Schools right away and have since taught several different grades (K, 2, 3, 5, & 7) at several different schools (Ralph McCall, Bearspaw, Crossfield, and Nose Creek).  Last year was my first year at R.J. Hawkey.  I am pleased to be back!

I am a parishioner at a church in Calgary and am currently involved with several ministries.  I teach Kids Zone (Sunday School) about once a month, and I direct our summer Vacation Bible School.

I am blessed with a loving family.  I have been married to my husband for 13 years.  Together we have 2 children, a 10-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl.  We live in Calgary and enjoy swimming, watching movies, biking, camping and reading.

Please know that it was not long ago that my own children were in kindergarten.  Trust me, I understand being the parent.  I cried when I dropped them off on their first day, and I felt frustrated when I asked them what they did at school and they replied, “I don’t remember.”  My kids have changed me as a teacher -they have made me better.

I am a dedicated educator who will provide the motivation and direction students need to be successful learners.  My goal is to foster a supportive classroom where each student feels safe, valued, encouraged, and is appropriately challenged.  I will show them kindness, respect and love.  I will keep you well-informed.  I am SO happy to be working with your child.

I am a strong believer in frequent and open communication with parents.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.  On the same note, I will contact you to express a concern or simply let you know about the sunshine your child brings to our class.
